Golden Bamboo Lemur

Hapalemur simus

Weight: Averages 1.6 kg

Habitat: Found in forest containing giant bamboo.

Gestation Period:

Birth Season: November and December.

Socila organization: Groups range from 2-6 and are often 3 or 4.

Behavior: It is most active at dawn and dusk but is also active at night.

Diet: Diet mainly consists of new shoots of giant bamboo. It also eats bamboo creeper and bamboo grass.

Threats/Reasons for Decline: It is threatened by slash-and-burn agriculture around the borders of Ranomafana National Park.
